One of the challenges to creating sustainable living environments is reducing or eliminating the use of recyclable products that are limited to second generation reuse, such as plastic water bottles. Although these items are recyclable, the resulting materials are dumped into landfills and are not compostable. Given this challenge, we’re excited to partner with Bioshell Tableware, one of our newest alliances involved in developing compostable products for brands and companies. All Bioshell products are compostable in commercial facilities and made from bio-based organic feedstock material: plant fiber, paper, and PLA (polylactic acid).
Recently, we worked with Bioshell to provide branded food service items for 2 major brands:
Waste Management implemented Zero Waste Challenge Goals at this year’s exciting tournament to divert 90% of waste from landfills and into recycling and composting facilities. We were proud to help contribute to reaching their initiative goals this year by producing a large run of compostable utensil packages for the event. Pouches included a knife, fork and spoon, all made of corn starch and natural limestone to provide strength. A compostable napkin was also included, finishing off the presentation. These pouches were used mainly in the corporate hospitality tents throughout the TPC Scottsdale course layout. Event participants were impressed by the quality of the utensils and excited to take part in a campaign to reduce waste, educate patrons and vendors, and promote sustainability both on and off the golf course.
